BBC v. RST lawsuit dismissed; RST v. BBC suit still pending

March 12 2003

Todd County Tribune

ROSEBUD - A lawsuit filed by BBC Entertainment Inc. against the Rosebud Sioux Tribe was dismissed Monday morning, March 10, in Rosebud Sioux Tribal Court.

Special Judge B. J. Jones signed the Order of Dismissal based on the grounds that BBC filed the suit after the statute of limitations had expired.

BBC, owned by Charles Colombe, Mission, did not object to the dismissal but made a motion to amend its answer in another lawsuit before tribal court, RST v. BBC Entertainment. The tribe is opposing that motion.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe has filed a response in opposition to Colombe's motion to amend his answer to include a claim to recoup unspecified damages he believes he lost to the tribe in a disagreement over BBC's management of Rosebud Casino.

This motion will be heard April 18 in tribal court.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe is represented by its Attorney General Dana Hanna.

That piece of red, white and blue cloth stands for a system and a country that does not honor it's own word...If it stood for honor and truth, it would remember our treaties and give them the appropriate place under international law. But it doesn't. It dishonors its own word and violates its treaties...
